Neetu Chandra is set to explore her roots - she hails from Bihar - in a film that will see her playing a nautch girl from Bowbazar. The bilingual movie in Bhojpuri and Hindi is based on the life of a folk singer/revolutionary from Bihar.

Says Neetu, "I will co-produce the movie and it will be directed by my brother. The bilingual movie - in Bhojpuri and Hindi - will be based on the life of Mahendra Misir. He was a folk singer and the pioneer of " Purvi", a form of Bhojpuri folk singing. He was also a revolutionary from Bihar's Chhapra, who printed currency and used it against the Brits. Unfortunately, his contribution is not known nationally. The film will be called "Company Ustad"." Her foray into production was through another bilingual directed by her brother.

Neetu says, "I'll be playing a nautch girl in the film. Misir, being a singer, was in close contact with a nautch girl, Dhelabai, from Bowbazar. There is a story behind her name too. People, who would queue up to watch her classical dance performances, would even pelt 'dhela' (stone)! We plan to shoot this movie in Chhapra and Kolkata. We'll recreate Bowbazar of 1930s."

Does she have anyone in mind to play Misir? "Plans are on to approach Naseeruddin Shah, Tabu and Raima for the film. I might approach either Ajay Devgn or Manoj Bajpai for Misir's role," she says. Meanwhile, there's another Kolkata connect for Neetu. There's news of she being roped in for Dibakar Banerjee's thriller, "Kolkata". Refusing to divulge the details, she says, "I've two big Hindi movies coming up. I have toured Jharkhand and Bihar extensively with my forthcoming release. Bihar's CM, Nitish Kumar, loved the film."

While professional work is keeping Neetu busy, what about her personal life (read her alleged affair with Randeep Hooda)? Neetu concludes, "I have no complaints about all that's happeni
ng in my professional and personal lives."
