Bharatbala's project is set to be made in Bollywood
Almost three years ago, Kollywood was abuzz with how Kamal Haasan will be joining hands with Bharatbala for The 19th Step, an Indo-Japanese production, and how the Ulaganayagan was preparing to play the role of a Kalaripayattu master.

The film, which was being scripted and written by M T Vasudevan Nair and Jayamohan, was about how the ancient martial art form of Kerala was taken to Japan. It was much-talked about for its cast, which included Asin and Japanese superstar Tadanobu Asano, and music, which was being composed by Bharatbala's favourite, A R Rahman.

However, the project reportedly fell through because of creative differences between Bharatbala and Kamal. Later, Vikram was rumoured to have been approached for the project, but Bharatbala maintained a stoic silence on the same.

Now, we hear the director has decided to make his ambitious film in Bollywood, and has approached Ajay Devgn to star in the lead. Bharat's spokesperson says, "The 19th Step is getting made in Hindi, and the casting process is on. We are in talks with Ajay, but nothing can be confirmed as of now."

The buzz is that most of the original cast is being retained in the project, including Asin and Tadanobu Asano. Asin's spokesperson, however, says, "All announcements have to be made from the production side and only then can we comment."
