Salman Khan, Aamir Khan & Ajay Devgan: Bollywood’s 100 Crore Box-Office Superstars

Ajay Devgan (Golmaal 3, Singham)

Aamir Khan (Ghajni, 3 Idiots)

Salman Khan (Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard)

They are the biggest stars in Bollywood today. It’s not just their acting prowess, their selection of the right subjects and their fan-following that makes them special. Not only do they have a proven track record of delivering more than one hit, their blockbusters that have crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark!

Salman Khan

Salman Khan turned the tide when Dabangg released in 2010. While the film was based on a long-abandoned rural backdrop, it worked wonders at the box-office, breaking all previous records for the opening day, weekend and week. The film went on to net a total of Rs. 140 crore at the domestic box-office. As Salman’s popularity soared, Ready, released in early 2011, also crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark. Of course, Eid release Bodyguard not only broke all previous records but has also become the fastest grosser of all time. With three super-hits in his kitty, Salman Khan is the undisputed king of the 100 Crore Club. Salman’s fans will be hoping that Ek Tha Tiger, scheduled to release in June 2012, will help Salman Khan maintain his position as No. 1.

Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan was the one who opened the club with Ghajini (2008) which breached the Rs. 100 crore mark for the first time. The perfectionist Khan then followed it up with Bollywood’s biggest blockbuster, 3 Idiots. The film, released in December 2009, broke all previous records and went on to become the highest grosser of all time. Indeed, Aamir Khan comes second only to Salman Khan, as far as the 100 Crore Club is concerned.

Ajay Devgan

Ajay Devgan is the third and final star in the club, with two films of his, Golmaal 3 and Singham netting more than Rs. 100 crore at the box-office. The star entered the 100 Crore Club with two genres: comedy and action, and is the only star in the club to do so.
