It's a hattrick for Reliance Entertainment with the success of Singham, Bodyguard and Double Dhamaal, films of three different genres.
It started with the multi-starrer Double Dhamaal. Next came Singham, the action film directed by Rohit Shetty. Loved by the masses, the film crossed the 100 crore mark within six weeks.
After this was Bodyguard, which made the fastest 100 crore at the box office and is still raking in the moolah. Says producer Atul Agnihotri, "It's been an extremely enriching experience working with Reliance.
Our attempt was to reach out to moviegoers globally. Their ground-breaking, dynamic approach to marketing and distribution made this possible."
The release date between Singham and Bodyguard was just a little over a month apart, and the company had two consecutive successes. Says Sanjeev Lamba, CEO Reliance Entertainment, "It's been a fabulous run at the box office for all our productions. We started the summer on a great note with Double Dhamaal, followed by two mega blockbusters in Bodyguard and Singham. We crossed the Rs 100 crore mark on both these films, which were a result of Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn's star power. They were stories that connected with the masses, along with an aggressive
marketing and distribution strategy."
And there's more to come: Shahrukh Khan's Don 2 and Aamir Khan's untitled next. Adds Ritesh Sidhwani, producer of Don 2, "Reliance has become a studio to reckon with in India and internationally. With this film, we're looking forward to setting higher benchmarks globally."
