I didn't give up modelling for films: Lisa Haydon

Lisa Haydon is excited about her new film, even though it comes over a year after her last outing, Aisha. Her role of a fun-loving girl who throws a spanner in the works in the film was one that she enjoyed immensely.

And now, with co-stars like Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn in her second filmi outing, Lisa is not worried about having been out of sight of the average film audience. "I have been very busy since my debut, so I don't worry about when I will be seen on screen again. Even Anushka Sharma had a two-year-gap between her first two releases. As long as good work comes your way, there's no reason to panic," says Lisa.

But most importantly, states the actor, her modelling career has kept her in circulation. "One aspect of being an actor is that I can continue doing what I did as a model - it's just that today I am not a random model in an ad or a fashion show. I am either endorsing something or being the celebrity showstopper. I haven't really sacrificed anything for a career in films," says Lisa.

Her new film, meanwhile, has the actor in the news for a hot item number. Is she comfortable with the item number or, rather, the item girl tag? "Sure. Why not? I am a trained dancer and with Shake It Saiyaan, choreographers Bosco and Caesar have done a fantastic job. I had a great time dancing to the number. I hope audiences like it too," she says. So will her character be the next Sheila or Munni? "I don't know. Each item number has its place under the sun. My song too will find its space," she says.

When asked if she is an
aspiring singer too, Lisa bursts into laughter and replies, "During the shoot of a song in Aisha, we were recording a track sung by an established singer. On the sets, I was singing it instead of just lip syncing. The makers liked my version and kept it in the final edit. That's probably the reason people think that I am a singer too."

Lisa adds that though she is not a
trained singer, she wouldn't mind doing playback if she were asked. Acting is time-consuming. I don't think I have the time for anything besides acting at the moment, she adds.

Does that mean she has no time for Karan Bhojwani, whom she's reportedly dating? Sidestepping the question, Lisa says, "One aspect about being a celebrity is that being comfortable is not a choice, especially in the case of intrusive questions about my personal life and constant media speculation. So, do I want to talk about it? Not really, because a relationship doesn't just involve two people. It involves the extended family too, she signs off.
